Friday Sept 18, this was to be our second trip to Indian Cave, my brother had to cancel so I decided to try my first solo trip. Just like our last trip it had rained all day and was still raining during the hike in, so there was mud everywhere. I entered at trail head 5 at 4:30pm. After 3 1/2 miles of hiking I came across a real nice site well off the main trail. Camp was set, firewood was gathered, and supper of noodles and bannock was cooking. From all the mud and rain water my shoes were soaked, I had to dry them off over the fire that evening.
Saturday Sept 19, oatmeal and bannock for breakfast, then relaxed in the hammock with coffee for a while. I decide to mark this location on my gps for future camping trips. Packed up camp and was back on the trails by 10am. Stopped for lunch halfway through trail 8, consisting of tuna sandwich, almonds, and babybel cheese. I had hiked 9 miles by 3pm and found my second campsite for the evening. After setting up and gathering some firewood I was able to take a nap in the hammock. Mac n cheese and bannock was for supper later that evening.
The deer kept me up most of the night, snorting and pounding there hooves at me. I decided to mix my flavored oatmeal into the bannock for a simpler and cleaner breakfast. After packing up camp, I had decided to take the longer route back to the parking lot since it was a beautiful morning. By 11am I had hiked the 3 1/2 miles back to the truck.
16 miles hiked, 3 days 2 nights
